La Curieuse Fabrique is a French candle brand focused on small collections of handcrafted products made in-house, with a strong emphasis on care, detail, and original molds rather than mass production. I worked on the project over the course of two months, designing and structuring a Shopify website that would reflect the brand’s artisanal identity while also creating a clear and easy shopping experience.

My role covered both design and implementation. I set up the Shopify store, created the collections and product pages, designed the homepage and supporting pages, and adapted an existing template into a more polished and distinctive online experience.

Challenge

The main challenge was to build an ecommerce site that felt warm, refined, and handcrafted without losing clarity or usability. La Curieuse Fabrique’s products have a strong visual identity, and the website needed to communicate the uniqueness of the brand while making browsing simple for customers.

Because the project started from a template, an important part of the work was transforming a standard Shopify foundation into something more custom and aligned with the brand. The goal was not to reinvent the entire system, but to elevate it through thoughtful design decisions, better structure, and a more cohesive visual direction.

Process

I began by working with a Shopify template as a base and then adapted it to better match the personality of the brand. This meant rethinking layouts, hierarchy, and visual rhythm so the site would feel more curated and less generic.

On the ecommerce side, I structured the collections and products to make the catalogue easier to navigate, especially around product categories and seasonal offers. On the design side, I focused on creating a storefront that felt soft, premium, and crafted by hand — in line with the brand’s identity and product universe.

The result was a site that gives space to the products, supports seasonal launches, and better reflects the care behind the brand.

The final website provides La Curieuse Fabrique with a more polished Shopify storefront that aligns with its identity as a handcrafted candle maker. It presents the collections clearly, supports product discovery, and creates a stronger first impression for the brand online.

This project was also a good example of how a template-based ecommerce site can be meaningfully elevated through thoughtful design, structure, and attention to detail.
